註1：光年其實是距離的單位，是光子行進一年的距離，但Joan Beaz在這邊把它當作時間的單位來使用，這是很常見的誤用，不過我還是把它翻譯成距離。

註2：Joan Baez為《Diamond and Rust》做的註解是：

memories bring “diamonds and rust"
回憶帶來鑽石與鐵鏽
time both turns dirty charcoal into beautiful diamonds and shiny metal into ugly rust
時間將骯髒的煤炭變成鑽石，同時也將閃亮的金屬變成醜陋的鐵鏽

換句話說，Joan Baez唱的是「時間和回憶」，時間讓往事變成珍貴的回憶，同時也保留了讓人傷心的記憶。

註3：在這裡提到的人不一定是現實中的歌手瑪丹娜，因為在下兩句歌詞裡面Joan Beaz又提到了維納斯，所以我覺得這段歌詞只是提出了一個理想型的女性，又或者其實他有實際上代表的意義，但這個秘密就只有Joan Beaz和Bob Dylan才知道了。

註4：這裡說到的破爛旅館(crummy hotel)，其實是位在紐約市曼哈頓南部下西城「格林威治村」(Greenwich Village)的Hotel Earle，建造於1902年，後來在1970年代改建成現在的華盛頓廣場飯店(Washington Square Hotel)。在1950’時，Bob Dylan曾短暫入住在Hotel Earle的305號房。
