：〈Delilah〉這首歌中的女主角Delilah，實際上是真有其人，她的真實名字是「Delilah DiCrescenzo」，是一位美國的長程距離運動員。2007年她就讀哥倫比亞大學時，在某次回鄉過暑假的時候，藉由朋友的介紹認識了一位歌手，而這位歌手對她說「我要為你寫一首歌」，這個人就是樂團Plain White T’s的主唱Tom Higgenso。Delilah並沒有把這件事放在心上，沒想到過幾個月之後，Tom竟然真的用她的名字錄製了一首歌，就是這首《Hey there Delilah》，更讓Delilah想像不到的是，這首歌不只一砲而紅，甚至還得到葛萊美獎的提名。

：你對我做了這些事，是做了什麼事？就是讓歌手愛上了他，卻又離他遠去。這不是一首熱戀的歌曲，而是一首心碎的單戀情歌，所以歌手才會唱著「it’s what you do to me」，讓他愛上了，卻又得不到她的回應。

：從這句歌詞可以知道這是一首單向的單戀情歌，主唱不斷訴說的事情，都是自己的單相思，女主角遠在天邊，讓他愛上了、改變了、動心了，只能癡心的想念她。有趣的是，故事的原型，樂團主唱和女主角最終也沒有在一起，因為Delilah在碰到Tom Higgenso之前早就有男朋友了，這首〈Hey there Delilah〉真的是送給Delilah的一個禮物。
