b) Apple of Discord

1989年成軍的Marilyn Manson一直以來都是音樂界的驚世駭俗的話題人物，有人說他是反基督、反宗教，有人說他是造成美國校園槍擊事件的罪惡源頭。
或許光從他們團員的誇張打扮、ＭＶ中種種挑戰世俗看法的行為，大部分的人都會認為這種指控非空穴來風，不過鮮少有人會去了解Marilyn Manson卸下螢光幕前裝扮後，真實的他究竟是什麼模樣。Marilyn Manson其實出身自一個虔誠的家庭，而他反叛的模樣，是他批判精神的展現。
或許他表演和角色塑造有誇張的部分，但Marilyn Manson筆下的優美歌詞，確實反映了許多美國的社會問題，甚至是人心問題。什麼是宗教、什麼是信仰，與盲從跟罪惡的界線又在哪裡？槍械武器的問題、政治狂熱的問題，Mariltn Manson藉由嘶吼歌聲唱出的不只是破壞，還有質疑與尋找回答。
而這首Coma Black是延續Coma White精神的作品，開頭的口白，其實描述的是甘迺迪總統遭槍殺的場景，曲末的Outro，則是哀悼甘迺迪遺孀的紀念。整首歌瀰漫的絕望與暴力，讓我想起了Taxi Driver中的勞勃狄尼洛，他失落、無助、迷惘，但我們卻忽視這些邊緣人，直到發生了悲劇，我們才倉皇地想要找代罪羔羊，彌補我們的罪惡感。Marilyn Manson就是指出了這個矛盾，包裹了詞曲，挑戰我們去思索、反省…。
