我迷失在安逸的麻木感中
就像囈語般，歌詞中的我和你、第一人稱和第二人稱不斷的交錯，但實際上這只是自己的喃喃自語。仔細的聽過，〈Comfortably numb〉就像是自答自問的告白一樣，吐露出的是自己的迷惘，迷失在安逸麻木感中的另類痛苦。
經典之所以成為經典，絕對不只是時代造英雄。1965年成軍的Pink Floyd，前期以迷幻的樂風打下江山，之後逐漸往前衛搖滾(Progressive Rock)發展，做出了一張又一張永垂後世的概念專輯。
60’、70’年代，可能是近代搖滾史用藥最氾濫的時期，也是最輝煌的時期。〈Comfortably numb〉很明顯可以看出用藥的痕跡，而為了抵抗壓力在表演前用藥，這在當時的大團間都是稀鬆平常的現象。不過有些人沉淪了，迷失在藥物帶來的快感中，又或者是成名帶來的虛榮感中。但Pink Floyd卻把內心那抵抗的想法寫成了歌曲，用懺悔的口吻吐露出comfortably numb的罪惡感。
除了把用藥的歷史寫入歌曲之外，「There is no pain you are receding. A distant ship smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves.Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying. 」這段歌詞也把用藥的精神狀態做了很深刻的描寫，同時也做了很漂亮的象徵手法。意識像遠走的船隻煙霧那樣稀薄，穿浪而過的船隻不斷在海浪中顛簸，就像是用藥之後的漂浮感，最終甚至連話都聽不到了…如此的唯美，又如此的情緒糾葛。
所以，一個偉大的團，可以把一個時代的輝煌和沒落、進步和醜惡都寫入作品中。我想，我在追尋的就是這種美感吧。
